November 2nd 2009 - Halloween

Halloween hangovers ....

For the second week in a not very long time our plans were somewhat disrupted by work. This week I had two after work-hours pressure tests, one being on a Friday. That's bad style ! But as the shipyard is very pressed for time on this our last vessel, we have to be a little flexible. And as long as we don't have inspections on Saturdays we should be happy (no rule without an exception - I will have to work on this coming Saturday, when we will do the lightweight survey, i.e. "weighing" the ship.

Saturday I went for an early morning ride with Ingo. Just around the new MTB trail on our house mountain - 5 minutes away. This time I got through the ride without falling or damaging the equipment. Well, almost. My cell phone came flying down the mountain when I took off my backpack at one view point. After 10 minutes of searching I had only managed to find the phone and the battery but not the back cover.

Early morning mist hanging over Hyundai Offshore Yard

He managed to stop before hurting himself fording the stream...

The rest of the day was spent trying to get some of our older PC equipment to pick up a bit of speed. A little electronic housekeeping, you may say. In the evening we picked up Ingo and headed for Ilsan Beach. Ingo, who has recently returned from vacations, had brought Paula 3 packets of Wasa knäckebrot from Germany, so we were going to bring him some tuna sashimi. We met up with Jesper - a service engineer from MAN B&W (the manufacturer of our main engines) at the Wa Bar and went to the small sashimi bar. Jesper was struggling a little with the chopsticks to start with but in the end he managed to fill up.

At the Japanese with Ingo and Jesper

What Jesper was missing in the small stick department he had in the big stick department (now now you dirty minds - don't get ahead of the story!). We made the traditional pit stop at the baseball pit and it didn't take Jesper long to show his talents with the larger sticks. I think he might have found a way to spend his spare time in Ulsan! Next pit stop was at Wa Bar before heading up to Ocean View Hotel. We hadn't remembered that it was Halloween up until now, but it didn't take us many moments now before it dawned on us. The bar was fully decorated although it looked more like a birthday party than a Halloween party! But the costumes were fantastic !!

Jesper showing us how it is done

Ingo complained that his balls fell short !!!!????

Pretty low scores ...

Dr. Lego and Mr. Lego

My favorite ...

Lots of happy balloons ...

Guess who we met there ???!!!

Jesper and Ingo - Paula and Jamie in the back.

And we had a great time - even shook the old dancing legs a little....

I like to move it, move it!

At around midnight it was time to round off the evening ... with a post-party drink at Jamie and Colin's. I am sure that this very strong Gin and Tonic was the culprit in next days misery! I woke up in a bad state and it wasn't until the afternoon that we managed to get out of the door - to go to Cafe H for a coffee with Jamie and Colin. At least they were feeling the heat as well!

And the party kept going ...

Wicked Gin&Tonic!

Today, Monday, fall has arrived, bringing along biting cold winds and low temperatures. Paula is happy - I think it sucks!!
